To come out with stand to justify the stories..Everythings Arranged and The Question of Dowry.
our group come out with a stand " Dowry is acceptable IF the dowry is not misused "
in both story the dowry became a huge issues hence delaying the process of marriage and create a mess into the tradition. from our point of view, dowry is a good things in a unique tradition and should not be ban or whatever, but it should be use as the way it should be. to misused the dowry will led to distruction to family institutional as shown in both stories.
sometimes tradition are misused by the society...we can see that the dowry purpose is like have changed with time...before: dowry is given by the girl's father to ensure his daughter could live and survive with the money...(the purpose just went for the girl) now: the dowry is requested by the male's side to know the girl's financial status..see..it is change now...(just like night and day) i say, if the purpose of dowry is not being corrected by people now, it will one day vanish just like a mitos (and it is actually happening now)
ReplyDeleteyes, it is up to society to change their mentality towards sensitive issues like this. a better society should understand the rigth purposes of the dowry, to clean the tradition.
